It seems to me that every new decade is a new body style to the Chevy Impala. I think after the invasion of the Japanese cars in the 1970s slowed the changing tastes of the body styles from year-to-year. However you look at the 1950s Chevy Bel Air one can see that almost every year the body style changed.

1950 Chevrolet Bel Air Styleline DeLuxe

The new 1950 Chevrolet Bel air was Chevrolet's first hardtop and the pioneer pillarless coupe in the low-priced market. Buick, Cadillac, and Oldsmobile turned out sumptuous "hardtop convertibles" in 1949, but neither Chrysler nor Ford had one on the market.
