1965 Buick Riviera

1965 Buick Riviera Grand Sport
was the sportest of the Rivieras. With a 360-hp V8 the Riviera could easily get up to 120 mph

Here is a list of the Buick Riviera Grand Sport additional equipment installed on the engine.

New hotter camshaft.

New carburetor

New electronic “breaker less” ignition

New timing chain and gears

New seals and gaskets

New plug wires and spark plugs

New air cleaner

New Fuel pump

New Coil

New aluminum radiator

New hoses

New gauges

Numerous parts have been powder coated to include the brackets pulleys; valve covers oil pan, and even the hood hinges/springs

The transmission was rebuilt by a so called tranny expert; the transmission looks good but hemorrhages transmission fluid whenever you get on the gas.

The tires are in good to fair condition, remember the car has been sitting for quite a while.  The wheels are American racing torque thrust II’s

The car comes with a new hounds tooth vinyl trunk kit. Also I  have some original sales brochures and hot wheels cars.

The early to mid 1960’s Buick Rivera’s were the flagship of the Buick Company. Often referred to as a banker’s hot rod, these cars pioneered the extremely powerful luxury car movement.

This particular car has been owned by me since 2001.  Shortly after purchasing the car I made a road trip from Northwest Florida to Albuquerque New Mexico and back.  It was by far the best drive I have had.

This Buick Rivera would be an easy restore as the body is quite solid and the paint is in very good condition.  The interior is also in excellent condition, and is original.

There are a few things that will need attention such as the carpet and a small tear in the driver’s seat.  The Buick Rivera stereo has been barely used and was newly installed before going into storage.

The engine was torn down to Short Block configuration 3 years ago and all new gaskets and seals were installed.  The stock forged crank shaft was inspected as well as the pistons and cylinder walls for anything out of the normal, it all checked out fine.

The heads were ported and polished while off the car and a hotter cam shaft was installed.  Unfortunately the dude porting the heads hit a water jacket in the right cylinder head and the engine leaks water on the exhaust side.
