The
1969 Camaro had paced
the
Indy 500,
Chevy issued a
Pace Car Replica. Most of the
3675
1969 Camaro built had a 300 hp 350 V8; around 100 had the 396.
All were
white with "hugger" orange stripes. The
SS package
included F 70x 14 tires, rally wheels and power front discs brakes. Pace car
convertibles got the pace car trim. They had a rear lip spoiler which had
become an
SS option. The super scoop forced air induction hood that
through on high-pressure air area at the windshield base was also an option.
In
1969 GM had a union strike which lengthen the production of the
1969
Camaro model year, helping make the
Camaro output to 243,085.
