The Charger R/T was considered a large car which came with a big a my needs being performance 440 powered Charger engine. in 1970 motor trend did a comparison tests between the 440 powered Charger R/T, the Mercury Cyclone GT, and the Oldsmobile Cutlass SX. .Motor Trend liked the Charger R/T over the other cars. in 1969 Dodge came out with the Charger 500. It had aerodynamic enhancements with flush mounted grill or flush rear window glass. It also came with a six cylinder engine that sold for $3139 however most buyers preferred the 318 CID V8 which cost an extra $3246. The true Dodge Charger muscle car came with the 446 pack and Hemi V8.
