

The Pontiac Trans Am was built by the Pontiac that was a division of General Motors between 1967 and 2002. The Trans Am was introduced the same year as its podium division cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro. At the same time the Ford Mustang shared its platform 1967 Mercury Cougar, which with another pony car.
The Trans Am was, mostly powered by a range of V8 engines of diverse GM divisions. They were Pontiac powered till 1977; Trans Am s was built with several different engines from nearly every GM division until 1982. Although General Motors rejuvenated the Chevrolet Camaro for the 2010 model year, there will not be fifth generation Pontiac Trans Am because of the ending of the Pontiac division after the 2010 model year.
